Big Band Karlovy Vary was founded in 1986 by trombonist Milan Hart, a fan of swing dance music. He gathered around him renowned musicians of the Karlovy Vary region who love jazz music and its patterns. Since 1998, the Big Band has been led by Zdeněk Krám, who, together with the musicians of the Big Band, has continued the founder's ideas to spread this noble music, which has influenced generations and musical styles all over the world with its positive energy!
Currently the Big Band performs mainly in the Karlovy Vary Region. You can listen to jazz music regularly at the Karlovy Vary Theatre, Marianske Lazne or Frantiskovy Lazne.
The mainstay of the repertoire are the compositions of the greats and now classics of jazz music, such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra and many others. In addition to swing songs, the Big Band's repertoire includes Latin and pop songs.
Soloists of the orchestra are singer David Kleňha and singer Mirka Lendělová. The ambition of the orchestra is to spread this sophisticated music for all generations and to promote Czech musicianship.
